NEW ARRIVALS - Weingut Buchmayer
“Living soils and biodiversity form the foundation for our wines”.
This is the Weingut Buchmayer motto which, in symbiosis with organic cultivation in the vineyards, makes it possible to grow grapes with character and finesse.
At the same time, their mission is to learn to understand and work with nature.
This enables them to produce individual and multi-faceted wines close to Retz, the city of wine, in Lower Austria at the Moravian Czech border.
The fantastic microclimate, the soil, and the vineyard exposure give the Weingut Buchmayer wines the freshness, minerality and intense aroma of fruits and flowers typical of Austrian wines.
As a wine imported we’ve been struggling to find a good, small winery from Austria in the past but we recently had the chance to attend a tasting of organic and biodynamic wines in London and that’s where we discovered Weingut Buchmayer.
Our goal was finally reached and we’re now able to store Grüner Veltliner, Gelber Traminer, Riesling, and Blau Zweigelt form this Amazing Organic Austrian winery
Their natural wines evolve and trust the play of natural forces.
Nature and winemakers develop hand in hand with their creative power.
Their light and fruity wines are simple but elegant and complex at the same time, light in alcohol and suitable for many occasions (all light and fruity wines).
They produce from single-site vineyards with their own unique qualities – individual vinification of the grapes characterized by the particular soils of the specific locations.
The Weingut was recently awarded gold medals for their Grüner Veltliner “Natural” 2018 and Riesling Kalvarienberg 2018 and silver with Weinviertel DAC 2018 and Gelber Traminer 2018.
The winery has been working according to the organic and biodynamic guidelines and from the 2019 vintage, all their natural wines will receive the Demeter certificate.
