Chianti Riserva D.O.C.G. La Commenda - Giacomo Marengo

Grape: Sangiovese 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%.
ABV: 14%.
Yearly production: 15000 bottle.

Colour: Deep garnet red.

Aroma: Fruity, rich and complex smell of red fruits where blueberry, cassis and blackberry predominate, spicy with liquorice and vanilla flavours.

Taste: Extremely round and soft, velvety on the palate, with a good body and structure, very persistent.

Behind the label: The vineyard lay around an ancient farmhouse where a “Commenda” and a “Hospitale” stood in the Middle Age, built by Templar Knights and used by pilgrim during their journey to the Holy Land.

Producer: Marengo’s family origin lie in Piedmont from the father’s side which come from the commune of La Morra, and has been producing Barolo for more than a century.Besides the Piedmont wines the Marengo's family owned as well several wineyards in Tuscany from where they used to produce quality and outstanding Chianti and Supertuscan.
