ON THE SPOT - Nebbiolo D'Alba D.O.C. Calcabrume - Cantina del Glicine

by Marcello Muiesan

The Nebbiolo grape reminded the owner of the winter morning frost, “brina” in Italian, and so to Dante’s devil named Calcabrina which literally means frost rider.

Unfortunately, the name was already copyrighted so they went from “brina” to “bruma”, which has a similar meaning, and then made it up in “Calcabrume”.

Bright ruby-red this Nebbiolo has a fruity aroma of raspberry and wild strawberry mixed with ethereal and spicy fragrances of vanilla and cinnamon.

Medium body, dry with remarkable structure and light acidity.
