Nebbiolo D'Alba D.O.C. Calcabrume - Cantina del Glicine - ITALY
Grape: Nebbiolo 100%.
ABV: 13%.
Yearly production: 5000 bottles.
Farming: Classic.
Colour: Bright ruby-red.
Aroma: Fruity aromas of raspberry and wild strawberry mixed with ethereal and spicy fragrances of vanilla and cinnamon.
Taste: Medium body, dry with remarkable structure and light acidity.
Behind the label: The Nebbiolo grape reminded the owner of the winter morning frost, "brina" in Italian, and so to Dante's devil named Calcabrina, which literally means frost rider. Unfortunately, the name was already copyrighted so they went from "brina" to "bruma", which has a similar meaning, and then made it up in "Calcabrume".
Producer: Cantina del Glicine, read the winemaker interview here.
