Grape: Spanna (Nebbiolo clone) 100%.
ABV: 14.5%.
Yearly production: 5000 bottles.
Farming: Classic.
Colour: Medium intensity garnet red with good transparency.
Aroma: A very fine and intense bouquet of dried violet, black cherries, leather, spices, and oak.
Taste: Full body with exceptional smoothness, integrated tannins. Very long persistence.
Behind the label: Osso San Grato is the Cru, a 5 hectares vineyard located on a highly steep hill enjoying a southern exposure.
Producer: Hundred years earlier than Barolo and Barbaresco, the Gattinara area was very well known for producing outstanding Nebbiolo grape red wines. After the industrial revolution, which moved the farmers to work in the cities, only a few tenacious estates remain in this historic northerly zone. Antoniolo, established in 1949, was the first one in the D.O.C.G. to bottle cru wines and is one of the only to bottle 100% Nebbiolo without blending in other varietals.
